Preamble: Ethics of Publication

Tadabbur Journal adopts standard ethics of publication, based on the guidelines for conduct and best practices for journal editors stipulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).  Accordingly, a great attention will be paid to detecting plagiarism, data fabrication and falsification, needless publications, improper author contribution, citation manipulation, and duplicate submission. All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, publishers) shall comply to do so. The following items are among the publishing ethics:

  1. Features of Academic Researcher

The academic researcher must have certain features including but not limited to:

  • Good intention and noble objectives during preparing the research.

  • Commitment to academic honesty.

  • Fairness and objectivity.

  • Efficiency in collecting information from paper and digital sources and references.

  • The ability to analyze information, conclude, and provide constructive criticism.

  1. Features of Academic Research

The academic research must have certain characteristics. The most significant ones are as follows:

  • Research originality and being free from plagiarism or exaggerated quotation.

  • Originality, diversity and sufficiency of sources and references.

  • Novelty and academic addition. The concept of novelty differs according to  different academic disciplines, and the required level of novelty varies based on the different stages for which the research was prepared. This depends on the academic custom within the framework of rules and regulations.

  • Clarity of research objectives.

  • The academic methodology considered in preparing the research.

  • Clarity of the research title and its indication of the content of the research.

  • The depth of the academic treatment of the research subject.

  • Not to provide any unacademic criticism against any institution or individual.

  • Language correctness, style quality, and clarity of ideas.

  • Not exceeding the internationally permitted citation percentage.

  • The research is to be free from all practices contradicting the ethics of academic research, most notably:

  • Inference: It is the academic work in which the author relies on a previous academic work, such as the master’s thesis, doctoral dissertations, or otherwise. Inference does not include the researches submitted by a faculty member for promotion and excluded by the Academic Council for being weak, then the faculty member modified and get them reviewed again.

  • Plagiarism: It is the academic work whose author relies on the work of others, and attributes it to himself.

  • Fraud: It is the provision of misleading information or results; to obscure the truth.

  • Exaggerated Quotation: Exaggerated literal quotation from sources with attributing it to such sources. The allowed quotation percentage varies according to different disciplines and academic levels. The permissible percentage here is: 15:20% as a maximum, on condition that it does not exceed 5% from a single source.

 

  1. Ethics of Academic Research Achievement

the most important liabilities the researcher must adhere to in preparing or publishing his research include the following:

  • Relating the research to publication fields of the journal.

  • Accuracy in preparing the research and adherence to the methodology appropriate to its subject and academic specialization.

  • Take statistics from their sources and adhere to accuracy in monitoring them.

  • Commitment to academic honesty, attributing texts and ideas to their original authors according to the methodology followed in citation, and avoiding unnecessarily exaggerated quoting.

  • Accuracy in analyzing research findings, and not distorting or exaggerating such findings, or concealing academic facts that have been reached.

  • Formulating the research findings, and the recommendations and studies that researchers can take up to complete the subject of the study.

  • Giving researchers and assistant participants their rights of the issue in which the research was published.

 

  1. Liabilities of the Research against the Journal:

  • The submitted research is be the original work of the author.

  • The researcher is to submit only unpublished research and acknowledge the same.

  • The researcher is to indicate whether the research is financially supported.

  • The research must be related to the journal publication fields.

  • The researcher must adhere to the implementation of the rules and conditions of publication in the journal as well as the international ethical standards.

  • The paper will be examined by the reviewers by means of plagiarism software; to find out the percentages of citation in the research.

  • Sending the research via the journal's e-mail: info@tadabburmag.sa.

  • The researcher attaches to the research the First Pledge  (Form 1), and the pledge of extraction from master's thesis or PhD dissertation in case that the research was extracted from a master's thesis or PhD dissertation (Form 2).

  • The researcher shall sign a pledge to guarantee the publishing rights of the journal (Form 3).

  • Then, the procedures of the research review. The three forms are available on the journal's website: https://tadabburmag.sa/cmds.php?action=inpage111

  • After reviewing the research, the researcher shall send the revised research by e-mail, along with the report of the amendments, which explains what has been done in each note or the answer to it.

  • The researcher must use the journal account on the Open Journals System 2.4.8.5, which is an Open Source System for managing academic publishing, developed, supported and distributed for free via the link General Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License.: Open Journal Systems (tadabburmag.sa)

 

  1. Liabilities of the Editorial Board

  • Tadabbur Journal adopts Rules of Professional Conduct stipulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for the Code of Conduct and Best Practices for the Journal's editors.  Accordingly, all parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, publishers) shall comply to  the ethical conduct standards and agree on them.

  • On receiving of the research, the Editorial Board shall ensure that there is no conflict of interest with the research subject or the authors, or anything else.

  • All papers are assessed fairly based on the intellectual content of the paper regardless of gender, race, citizenship, or any other non-academic considerations, such as publication fees or exemption status as all these cases do not affect the assessment of the research whether to accept it or not.

  • The Editorial Board prohibits the acceptance or publication of any paper violating the applicable international legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

  • The information related to the research and researchers shall be kept confidential and shall not used for any commercial purposes or personal gain. The Editorial Board shall take the necessary measures to preserve that before and after the review process.

  • The editorial management shall be responsible for making publishing decisions in relation to the papers submitted to the journal after the reviewers' assessment.

  • The journal may not publish the research even after being approved for review and publication if the journal considers the public interest is to do so.
